# Black Solicitors Network
The Black Solicitors Network (BSN) is a professional membership organisation based in Manchester dedicated to advancing equality within the legal profession. Since 1995, BSN has championed the recruitment, retention, and progression of Black solicitors across the UK, now representing over 3,000 members and having created 300+ jobs.
BSN operates as a bridge between talented Black legal professionals and inclusive employers. Their flagship Jobs Board connects members with law firms, in-house teams, and public sector organisations actively seeking diverse talent and committed to equitable workplaces. The platform serves candidates at all career stages, from newly qualified solicitors to experienced practitioners.
The organisation's Creating Pathways programme, launched in 2014, represents a pioneering cross-firm mentoring and sponsorship scheme. This initiative directly addresses research showing higher attrition rates amongst Black lawyers by providing senior-level support, professional development, and strategic career guidance within private practice and in-house settings.
What distinguishes BSN is its dual focus on systemic change and individual support. Rather than simply listing vacancies, they work with Corporate Members—including leading firms like CMS, Clyde & Co, Bristows, and others—to foster genuine cultural inclusion. These corporate partners contribute expertise and resources, creating sustained opportunities rather than one-off placements.
BSN's 30-year track record demonstrates genuine impact in reshaping the legal profession's diversity landscape, making them an essential resource for both aspiring Black solicitors and employers committed to meaningful inclusion.
